Easy Crochet Mesh Headband | Free Pattern & Video!
If you’re looking for a light, breezy crochet headband that’s as easy to make as it is to wear – this one’s for you.
This mesh crochet headband is a beginner friendly project that works up super quick with cotton yarn, making it absolutely perfect for that warmer, summertime weather.
It comes in two width options – a wider 3 inch version and a narrower 2 inch version – so you can choose the look you want.

The best part? It actually stays on your head, it uses hardly any yarn (one skein will make several!), and you can have one finished in under an hour.
It’s the kind of quick, satisfying make you’ll want to whip up in every color.
As written the pattern fits an adult or teen head, but it’s easy to adjust for any size with a simple measuring trick included in the pattern notes.
Below you’ll find the full written pattern along with a video tutorial to walk you through every step.

Best Yarn for this Crochet Headband
For this pattern, I recommend a soft, washable worsted weight yarn. I used cotton, which is perfect for a summery project like this.
I don’t recommend acrylic yarn for this because it’ll be hot and a little stretchier than intended. Cotton is my definite go to. I used I Love This Cotton Yarn from Hobby Lobby for mine.

You want a nice, soft cotton that isn’t too stiff.
How to Adjust the Length of Your Headband
This headband can be easily adjusted to fit different sizes of heads. All you have to do is either decrease or increase the amount of times you do the repeat row.
To get the right length for any head size, measure from just behind one ear, up and over the top of the head, and down to just behind the other ear.
Crochet your repeat rows until your piece matches that measurement, then finish as written. Easy peasy!
A Note About Some of the Stitch Abbreviations in This Pattern
There are a couple stitch abbreviations in this pattern that might be kind of weird, but let me explain.
In the special stitches section, you’ll see a stitch called BEG2TOG and one called BEG3TOG.
This basically means “begin 2 together” and “begin 3 together”.
And what it’s referring to is at the beginning of a row near the end of the pattern when we’re working a decrease over the first 2 stitches.
Since it’s a stacked single crochet and then a double crochet that you’re decreasing over, I couldn’t think of anything better to call it.
My tech editor came up with the name BEG2TOG because the name that I had come up with before that was waaaay too long. Lol.
So that’s what that’s all about, if you’re wondering.
